Well, time for my monthly update. Quite a few things have come up over the last little while, but to be honest I couldn't be arsed sitting down to type about them. Let's see how much I can remember...
I went to see Shaun of the Dead last Sunday. Brilliant. It was absolutely hilarious, and an excellent zombie/gore movie, too. The cast was great - it was a mix of people from The Office, Spaced, and Black Books (with a substantial number of extras as dead folk). It was only the second time in the last year that I've actually been to a movie at the cinema, and it was well worth the whole being-at-work-on-my-day-off feel. The only other film I've been to since I started working at the cinema here was Hellboy. So, very infrequent movie-going, but good choices made when actually going. To the movies.
What else? Being at work while actually working is still basically poos. I'm currently training a new projectionist, which is weird, because usually I have the projection room to myself, so I can wander about singing, or talk to myself, or in my underpants... Well, not so much the last one, but I do find it strange to have another person around all the time. Although this trainee is pretty cool - he's around 37, and moved out from the UK 2 months ago, so he actually has interesting stories to tell about cruising around Europe, and if I mention anything either British or more than 3 to 4 years old, he actually knows what I'm talking about.
I went to the staff christmas/end of year do for Tauranga Girls College on Thursday. I went with me Mum. It was a little weird to be attending an event like that with my mother, but I had a great time. I probably had a little too much to drink, but not so much that i made an arse of myself. Or at least that I could blame the drink for making an arse of myself. I had enough though that I actually got up and danced. Bloody hell, on of my cats is being very happy to see me, making it very difficult to type. I had to get up in front of everyone and accept an award for bravery, for having turned up. And my mother recieved an award for being The Saviour of Single Women, or something like that, for having brought me along. Which would have been hugely embarassing, except that I was really quite pissed. And it seemed more funny than embarassing, really. Apparently there had been an e-mail sent out about a tall, dark, handsome stranger attending to draw some of the staff to buy tickets. Which wasn't entirely true, until the person organising things found out my mother had an extra ticket and that I might be coming. So I got to fill the position to whatever extent I fit the description. I also got a cool sparkly santa hat, for being "Best Dancer." Which I think might have been a charity thing, or a cunning way to hassle my mother, as they gave her a plastic toy truck for being "Worst Dancer." I think she was a little upset by that, but it was all good fun.
I think that's all the things that have happened recently. There may be more, but they can wait till a later post, or get lost on the dark recesses of my aging brain...
