So I went to the opening of an art exhibiton with my mother today, a collection of works by TGC teachers. A fairly small exhibition, several paintings and a few sculptures. Some of the paintings were quite cool, and there were some interesting... things. I'm not entirely sure what you call them. They were like a mixture of textiles, on canvas - kinda paintings, but with different textures as the base. Some sewn together fabric, some 70's looking wallpaper... Very interesting, and done in a cool range of greens, black, browns and some gold bits. Or perhaps brassy, but still very richly coloured, and they left me feeling... warm. Which sounds odd, but there you go...
Anyways, the art was cool and interesting (if somewhat expensive), being in a small Gallery with lots of people wasn't, but overall a good experience. Bloody hell, I'm trying to get to the mistaken identity bit, but not quite making it. So, while I was wandering through the place, I walked past a couple of young ladies, and one of them put her hand on my arm and says "Don't you go anywhere, you look very familiar." Which left me thinking, "Really? I have no idea who you are." Then she says "You have to tell me how you've been getting on. I was on section with you last year."
Oh! There you go. She had mistaken me for my brother, Matt. Which I found surprising, as I didn't think we were quite that much alike. Once things were cleared up, she said that her name was Anna, and that she's now teaching at Boys College. My mother told her what my brother and his wife are up to now. And that's the end of that chapter. (Sorry, I cna't be bothered writing any more, and can't think of a decent ending for this entry.)
